What This Tool Does

This tool trims and cuts MP4/MOV video without re-encoding — drop a file, drag the handles to cut the start and end, or drag-select and remove any part in the middle, then export. Because it copies the original compressed data instead of decoding and re-compressing it, the export is lossless and takes only a couple of seconds regardless of how long the source video is.

How to Use It

  1. Drop a video file onto the page, or click to browse (or paste one you've copied).
  2. Drag the two handles at either end of the timeline to trim the start and end.
  3. To cut out a section in the middle, drag-select the range on the timeline and click Remove this section — repeat for as many sections as you need.
  4. Click Export trimmed video to download the result.
Tip: Trimming the ends and removing a middle section combine into a single export — set the start/end handles, drag-select and remove any part in between, then hit Export once. No need to run the file through a second tool afterward.

Lossless & Instant — No Re-encoding

Most online video cutters decode your entire video and re-encode it to produce the trimmed file, which costs time and, however slightly, always throws away some quality. This tool instead uses stream copy: it reads the compressed audio and video samples straight from the parts you kept and writes them into a new MP4 container, unchanged. No frame is ever decoded or recompressed, so the output is bit-for-bit identical to the corresponding stretch of your original file — and export finishes in seconds even for a long video, since there's no encoding work to do at all.

Why did the cut start a fraction of a second earlier than where I dragged the handle?
A lossless cut can only begin on a keyframe — a frame the video decoder can start from without needing any earlier frames. The trim start snaps back to the nearest keyframe at or before it, while the start of a piece right after a removed section snaps forward to the next keyframe — that way the removed part is fully cut and every kept piece begins cleanly, so the export stays lossless. How far a point moves depends on the video: keyframes sit a few seconds apart in many phone recordings, and closer together in others.
What video formats and codecs are supported?
Standard (non-fragmented) MP4 and MOV files with H.264 video and AAC audio. HEVC/H.265 video, fragmented or streaming MP4s, and other codecs aren't supported for a lossless cut — re-encoding them would defeat the point of a lossless tool, so it tells you clearly instead of silently converting.
Can I remove a section from the middle of the video, not just the start and end?
Yes. Drag across any part of the timeline to select it, then choose Remove this section — the gap closes seamlessly and the parts on either side join together. You can remove more than one section before exporting.
Is there a file size or length limit?
Files up to about 1 GB are supported. Very large files near that limit may be slow to load into your browser's memory, and files over roughly 1 GB are rejected outright. Typical clips, well under that size, process in a couple of seconds.
Does this work on mobile?
Yes, on any modern mobile browser. Dragging the trim handles works with touch just as it does with a mouse.
