How to use this table

Pick a max denominator from the dropdown — 4, 6, 8, 12, or 16 — to control how many rows the table shows. Every fraction n/d with 2 ≤ d ≤ max and 1 ≤ n ≤ d appears once, sorted from the smallest value (near 0) to the largest (1), with its decimal and percent alongside it.

The answer above shows the fraction's value even if its denominator is larger than the current max — in that case the table itself won't show a highlighted row until you raise the max denominator.

Reading decimals and percents together

Every row shows the same value written three ways:

  • Fraction — the exact, reduced form (and any equivalents within range).
  • Decimal — the fraction divided out, shown to 5 places (1/3 → 0.33333).
  • Percent — the decimal times 100, shown to 2 places (1/3 → 33.33%).

This is the same relationship used by a standalone fraction to decimal or fraction to percent conversion — this table just runs it for every fraction up to your chosen denominator at once, so you can scan for a value instead of converting one at a time.

Why equivalent fractions group together

Tip: Grouping equivalents is the same idea behind an equivalent fractions lookup — multiplying a fraction's numerator and denominator by the same number never changes its value, only how it's written.

Within denominators 2 through 16, 1/2 has the most company: it also appears as 2/4, 3/6, 4/8, 5/10, 6/12, 7/14, and 8/16 — eight different ways to write exactly one-half. Smaller reduced fractions like 5/12 or 7/16 often have no equivalents at all in this range, because their denominator doesn't divide evenly into a smaller or larger one already listed.

Precision note

Decimals and percents are computed with arbitrary-precision arithmetic, not floating-point Number math, so values like 1/3 round consistently to 0.33333 every time rather than drifting by a fraction of a bit. Two fractions are only ever treated as equal when their reduced numerator and denominator match exactly — never by comparing decimal approximations.

Can I use this table to compare two fractions?

Does the max denominator setting change the fractions themselves?
